BOSTON (AP) — The bad news started for the Chicago Blackhawks before the puck dropped — and it never got any better.

High-scoring Marian Hossa was a late scratch from the lineup after sustaining an upper body injury. Then the Blackhawks were beaten 2-0 by the Boston Bruins and fell behind 2-1 in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup finals.

Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said Hossa was day-to-day.

After two overtime games — a 4-3 Chicago win in three extra sessions and a 2-1 Boston win in one — the Blackhawks offense was continually shackled by tight checking and strong goaltending by Tuukka Rask, who stopped 28 shots in his third shutout in his 14 wins this postseason.
