NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Illinois State basketball coach Dan Muller says he has kicked senior guard Bryant Allen off the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Muller said in a news release Monday that Allen may be able to stay in school and finish his degree but won’t be part of the team.

Allen started 30 of the Redbirds’ 32 games last season. The Maplewood, Mo. native averaged 8.6 points and 1.8 rebounds a game.

Guard Geoffrey Allen was kicked off the team last season while another guard, Tyler Brown, was suspended for unspecified conduct problems. Brown is back on the Redbird roster.

The Redbirds also lost forward Jon Ekey. He transferred to Illinois.

Illinois State’s roster now lists only eight players.
