STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Penn State is bringing in a transfer from Miami (Ohio) to help out in the backcourt.

The Nittany Lions this week announced the addition of guard Allen Roberts. A graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left, the former Redhawk can play this fall.

The 6-foot-3 Roberts averaged 12.3 points per game in 2012-13. He’s expected to help pick up the scoring load following the unexpected offseason departure of Jermaine Marshall (15.3 points).

Roberts is the second transfer to join the Nittany Lions in two weeks. Center Jordan Dickerson must sit out this season after transferring from SMU.

Penn State on Tuesday also announced the return of Andrew Jones as a graduate assistant. Jones was a key contributor on the 2011 Penn State team that went to the NCAA tournament.
