La Center — La Center Lions Club members Mark and Debbie Mansell embarked on a whirlwind 48-state motorcycle tour of the United States on June 15 to raise money for a guide dog organization. The couple is looping across the country — from La Center to Temecula, Calif. — in 24 days. Their goal is to raise awareness and money for Leader Dogs for the Blind, which provides guide dogs to enhance the mobility of those who are blind or have trouble seeing. Last summer Mark Mansell, who is also superintendent of the La Center School District, cycled cross-country for the same cause.
