Recall election today against mayor of Pacific

PACIFIC — A recall election today will determine whether the mayor of the south King County town of Pacific will be kicked out of office.

Cy Sun ran on an anti-corruption campaign in 2011 and won as a write-in candidate. He’s fired police chiefs and other city employees, prompting lawsuits against the town.

The recall accuses him of jeopardizing the town’s insurance by leaving some jobs vacant.

KOMO reports preliminary results could be announced Tuesday night, and the recall election will be certified July 9.

If the mayor is removed, the city council would appoint a replacement for the remainder of his term.
