MIAMI (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says the Miami Heat acquired rights to James Ennis in a trade Thursday night with the Atlanta Hawks.

The person says the Heat gave up a future second-round pick in the deal. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the league had not signed off on the trade.

Ennis was the No. 50 selection. Miami entered the draft without any picks.

The 6-foot-7 Ennis plays shooting guard and small forward and spent his first two collegiate seasons at junior colleges. He averaged 13.2 points with Long Beach State over the last two seasons, shooting 49 percent from the floor and 35 percent from 3-point range.

Ennis was the Big West’s player of the year this past season.
