Plant Tissue Culture for the Home and Classroom: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13 at American Legion Hall, 14011 N.E. 20th Ave. Plant tissue culture is a method of plant propagation that involves growing plant parts in a sterile environment and inducing them to produce hundreds of small “plantlets.” $57 ($50 if you bring ten clean, no-label, six ounce baby food jars). Washington State University Extension Clark County Master Gardener volunteer training: The 12-week training begins Sept. 4 and continues Wednesdays through Nov. 27 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Upon completion, new volunteers are expected to complete a 50-hour internship their first year and serve 35 hours yearly thereafter to maintain certification. $245.
