SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Sacramento Kings have selected Detroit point guard Ray McCallum with the 36th overall pick in the NBA draft.

After taking Kansas shooting guard Ben McLemore seventh, Sacramento used its only second-round pick on another perimeter player. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound McCallum is a bit undersized by NBA standards but uses his ball-handling skills and shifty moves to beat defenders.

The Horizon League Player of the Year led Detroit with 18.7 points, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals last season. He played under his father, Ray McCallum, at the school.

McCallum might need some work on his outside game. While he shot 49 percent from the floor last season, he was just 32 percent from 3-point range.
