BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox have activated right-hander Clayton Mortensen from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday after optioning right-hander Pedro Beato to Triple-A the previous night.
Mortensen had been placed on the DL on June 11 with a strained right groin. He was 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA before the injury.
Beato was recalled from Pawtucket on Tuesday when left-hander Franklin Morales was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained muscle on the left side of his chest.
