INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Ryan Lochte advanced to the finals of the 200-meter individual medley with the best time in morning prelims, and a handful of Olympians qualified for the 50 freestyle finals.

Lochte is attempting to win his third event at this week’s U.S. national championships in Indianapolis. Missy Franklin was scheduled to swim in the women’s 200 IM but said Friday night that she would scratch.

The field in the men’s 50 free, the final event of the week, includes American record-holder Cullen Jones, Olympic gold medalists Nathan Adrian, Anthony Ervin and Matt Grevers.

Also competing Saturday night will be 16-year-old Katie Ledecky, who will try to add the 1,500 free to her schedule at next month’s world championships. She has already qualified in the 200, 400 and 800 free.
