Haymon’s late layup gives Stephen F. Austin win

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Desmond Haymon’s layup with 11 seconds left in the game gave Stephen F. Austin a 64-63 victory over Northwestern State on Saturday night.

Stephen F. Austin (24-3, 14-2 Southland) was led by Taylor Smith, who scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Stephen F. Austin had a 36-30 advantage on the glass.

Antonio Bostic finished with 15 points and Haymon had 13.

Northwestern State (19-8, 13-3) got 20 points and eight rebounds from James Hulbin and 10 points from Marvin Frazier.

Jalan West had nine assists for Northwestern State. He gave his team a 63-62 lead on a pair of free throws with 45 seconds left, but his 3-pointer with 3 seconds to go was off the mark.
