TROY, Ala. (AP) — Augustine Rubit had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Javier Carter added 10 points and 13 boards to lift South Alabama over Troy 53-49 Saturday night in the Sun Belt Conference season finale for both teams.

Antoine Allen chipped in 12 for South Alabama (17-11, 14-6).

With Troy down 48-43, Ray Chambers’ jumper made it 48-45 with 2:55 left to play, but Allen’s layup pushed the Jaguars’ lead back to five, 50-45.

After Emil Jones’ free throws with 2:09 remaining cut it to 50-47, the next points did not come until Allen’s free throws made it 52-47 with 27 seconds left.

After Jones’ layup with 20 ticks to go made it a one-possession game, 52-49, he missed two shots in the final 12 seconds, and Rubit converted a free throw to seal the victory.

Jones finished with 22 points for the Trojans (11-20, 6-4), who have lost five straight games.
