Coppin State downs Maryland-Eastern Shore 63-60

BALTIMORE (AP) — Andre Armstrong scored 22 points to help Coppin State avenge a Feb. 18 double-overtime defeat, beating Maryland-Eastern Shore 63-60 Monday night.

Michael Murray and Collin Johnson both added nine points for Coppin State (7-23, 4-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).

After Kevin Mays’ layup got Maryland-Eastern Shore within 59-58, Brandon St. Louis made a pair of free throws with 1:05 left to extend Coppin State’s lead to 61-58.

Ishaq Pitt hit a jumper with 19 seconds left to get the Hawks back within one, 61-60, but Armstrong answered just a second later with two free throws to go up 63-60. Mays missed a jumper and layup in the final 9 seconds.

Armstrong made 10 of 11 free throws, as the Eagles held a 19-8 advantage from the foul line.

Louis Bell and Troy Snider scored 17 points apiece for the Hawks (2-24, 2-13), who have now lost four straight games.
