UC Irvine earns 88-85 comeback win over UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Will Davis II scored 18 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and UC Irvine erased a 19-point halftime deficit to defeat UC Davis 88-85 on Saturday night.

The Aggies took a commanding 47-28 lead at halftime but a Michael Wilder three-point play with 2:35 to go gave UC Irvine (18-14, 11-7 Big West) a 76-74 lead, its first of the night, and never looked back.

Wilder finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Chris McNealy scored 15 points, Daman Starring had 12 and Alex Young chipped in with 11.

Corey Hawkins had 21 points for UC Davis (14-16, 9-9) and J.T. Adenrele added 18.

UC Irvine claims the No. 4 seed in the Big West Conference tournament and will play fifth-seeded Hawaii on Thursday in Anaheim. UC Davis falls to the six seed and will play No. 3 Cal Poly.

The Anteaters have won six of their last seven games heading into the conference tournament.
