A search for a possible missing hiker in Skamania County was suspended at dark, authorities said.

About 30 people combed about 2 square miles south of Table Mountain on Monday, according to a Skamania County Sheriff’s Office bulletin.

“We have not received any credible physical evidence from the field that would indicate that we have anyone out there in the area at this time” said Undersheriff Dave Cox. “We have placed a great deal of resources into a very hazardous area and have come up with absolutely nothing. We have not received any overdue subject reports, we have no unattended vehicles, we have not had any employer call in to report an employee that had not reported to work, nothing.”

If any future information indicates that a hiker is lost, the search may be resumed at a later date, Cox said.

Reports of the possible missing hiker came in Saturday night around 9:20 p.m. when a hiker reported hearing a man yelling for help near the top of Table Mountain.

Sheriff’s deputies searched the immediate area Saturday night and a team of about 30 searchers combed the area Sunday. Neither group found anyone, the release said.
