Brush Prairie — With no thought paid to first, second or third, Battle Ground Public Schools students celebrated music for music’s sake during “District Band Day” March 7. The annual gathering brought together nearly 400 student musicians from nine Battle Ground schools in a day of education and performances.

“The day was for learning, not competing,” said Chief Umtuch Middle School band teacher Danielle Armstrong in a press release. Besides performing a few songs on stage at Prairie High School, Band Day groups were taught techniques by instructors other than their regular band teachers.
