N. Colorado advances, beats Montana State 69-56

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Tate Unruh scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and Northern Colorado advanced to the Big Sky tournament semifinals with a 69-56 win over Montana State on Thursday night.

Tim Huskisson had 14 points and seven rebounds, Tevin Svihovec scored 12 including an 8 for 9 performance from the free-throw line and the fifth-seeded Bears shot 58.8 percent from the field in the second half.

The Bears (13-17) were 23 of 28 from the line overall, going 17 for 19 in the second half. Northern Colorado (13-17) out-rebounded the Bobcats 35-23.

Christian Moon led fourth-seeded Montana State (13-17) with 15 points and Paul Egwuonwu had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Northern Colorado will face top seeded Montana in the Big Sky tournament semifinals Friday. The Bears are 0-2 against the regular season Big Sky champs this season, losing 85-77 on Jan. 12 and 73-63 on Feb. 7.

The Grizzlies received a first-round bye in the tournament.
