NEW YORK (AP) — Elghayoor rallied to beat heavily favored Highestmaintenance by a half-length Saturday in the $100,000 Cicada Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.

Highestmaintenance, the 1-2 choice following two swift efforts in Florida, grabbed the early lead only to soon find herself in a spirited battle with I’m Mom’s Favorite. The duel weakened the pacesetters, leaving both vulnerable to the stretch kick from the 6-1 winner.

Eddie Castro was aboard for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin as Elghayoor won a second straight stakes at Aqueduct following the Dearly Precious last month. The time was 1:09.82 for six furlongs.

Elghayoor paid $14.20, $4.40 and $2.50 and earned 50 points toward a possible berth in the Kentucky Oaks on May 3 at Churchill Downs.

Highestmaintenance returned $2.60 and $2.10, and I’m Mom’s Favorite paid $2.20 to show.
