NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur is back at practice after missing the last 12 games with a sore back.

The 40-year-old Brodeur last played in a 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Feb. 21. The NHL’s all-time winningest goalie had an 8-2-3 mark with one shutout and a 2.27 goals-against average before being hurt.

Johan Hedberg has started every game since Brodeur was sidelined, posting a 3-7-2 record.

It was not immediately known whether Brodeur would play on Tuesday night when the rival New York Rangers visit the Prudential Center in a crucial game for both teams with the lockout-shortened regular season coming down to its final six weeks.

The Devils beat the Rangers 3-1 earlier this season, as Brodeur made 24 saves.
