New $300 million PGE power plant planned near Clatskanie

CLATSKANIE, Ore. — Portland General Electric plans to start construction next month on a third natural gas-fueled power plant at Port Westward along the Columbia River near Clatskanie.

Unlike the first two plants, The Daily News reports ( this one will operate only during times of peak electricity demand.

PGE says the new $300 million plant will give it flexibility to use unpredictable renewable resources such as wind and solar power.
