Stanford women get a top seed

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Stanford is the No. 1 seed in the Spokane Regional of the NCAA women’s tournament.

The Cardinal will play Tulsa in the first round while No. 8 seed Michigan and No. 9 Villanova will also meet at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford, the Pac-12’s qualifier after winning its seventh straight Pac-12 tournament title, is going for its sixth straight Final Four appearance.

The Cardinal are making their 26th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and 27th overall.

They host first- and second-round games at Maples Pavilion Sunday and Tuesday.
