SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent safety and special teams standout Darcel McBath to a one-year contract, adding depth to the secondary.
McBath is the second safety added by Super Bowl runner-up San Francisco since the start of free agency. The NFC champion Niners signed Craig Dahl to a three-year contract Saturday, another move to help fill the void left when Dashon Goldson received a five-year deal from Tampa Bay last week.
They also brought in veteran Charles Woodson for a meeting last week.
The 27-year-old McBath spent the 2012 season with the 49ers after signing just before training camp on July 20. He appeared in all 19 games, finishing with eight special-teams tackles in the regular season and one in the playoffs.
