DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State is preparing for a big game at an arena that has not been kind to the Buckeyes.
Second-seeded Ohio State is one win away from reaching the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament for a fourth straight season, something the Buckeyes have never done in their history. Ohio State (23-11) can pull it off by beating 10th-seeded Iowa State (23-11) at the University of Dayton Arena on Sunday.
The Buckeyes have opened the NCAA tournament in Dayton twice while Thad Matta has been their coach. Both times, they failed to advance.
Their challenge Sunday will be to clamp down on the nation’s top 3-point shooting team. The Cyclones were on the mark in an opening drubbing of Notre Dame on Friday night.
