MEDFORD, Ore. — A small earthquake was detected in the southern Cascade Range in southwestern Oregon.

The Mail Tribune newspaper reports the U.S. Geological Survey measured the mild quake at magnitude 2.7 at about 2 p.m. Monday.

The epicenter was 21 miles east of Shady Cove, 2.7 miles below the surface, in an area of mild earthquake activity north of Mount McLoughlin.

Chuck Glaser of the National Weather Service in Medford says the agency hasn’t heard of anyone who even felt it.
