DENVER (AP) — Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson will miss Denver’s game against the Brooklyn Nets with a strained heel and a plantar fascia tear in his right foot.

An exam Thursday revealed the tear and the Nuggets said surgery is not needed. The team said Lawson is day to day and would not play against the Nets on Friday night.

Lawson injured his heel against Oklahoma City on March 19. He missed the next three games before returning in Wednesday’s loss at San Antonio. Lawson played more than 19 minutes — just seven after halftime — and scored two points.

Lawson leads Denver in scoring at 16.7 points and assists with 6.9 per game.
