Sensory Camp benefit concert set for May 11

The Columbian
Published: April 30, 2013, 5:00pm

The second annual Save Sensory Camp benefit concert is 7 p.m. May 11 at the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, 100 Columbia St. For details visit facebook.com/SaveTheSensoryCamp.

Sensory camp meets the needs of children with autism, sensory disorders and other special needs.

Last year when Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation faced a $1.2 million budget reduction, sensory camp was cancelled.

Three Vancouver women, April Sutherland, Beth Pederson and Sara Brandon — the “sensory camp moms” — raised more than $27,000 and preserved the seven-week summer camp. They received a statewide citation of merit from the Washington Recreation and Parks Association.

To donate to the 2013 camp, contact the Parks Foundation at 360-487-8370 or Parks Foundation of Clark County.
