Drivers heading into Skamania County next week should expect delays while crews repave a stretch of state Highway 14, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The work will reduce the highway to a single lane between Marble and Belle Center roads. Delays of up to 20 minutes are possible around the clock Monday through Friday, according to WSDOT.

Paving will happen only during the day. But WSDOT plans to keep flaggers in place at all hours to direct motorists through sections of gravel and abrupt lane edges, according to the agency.

The work is part of a $6.6 million project to straighten and rebuild a stretch of Highway 14 in western Skamania County. The two-year job is expected to be finished this fall.
