Prep roundup: Ridgefield, Hockinson advance on Class 2A district soccer playoffs

Liam Knoeppel and Brandon Winn scored unassisted goals in the second half to send the Ridgefield boys soccer team to a 2-0 win over River Ridge of Lacey in the first round of the Class 2A district playoffs.

Knoeppel broke the scoreless tie with his goal in the 64th minute. Winn followed with his goal in the 78th minute.

Ridgefield will face league rival Mark Morris in a semifinal match Tuesday at Ridgefield. The Spudders swept both meetings with the Monarchs this season.

The winner of Tuesday’s match will clinch a berth to the 2A state tournament.

Hockinson 5, Centralia 1 — Five goals in a 30-minute span propelled the Hockinson boys soccer team to a win in the 2A district playoffs.

The victory in the 2A district tournament advanced the Hawks to a match Tuesday.

After a scoreless first half, Mitchell Pinney scored the first three goals for Hockinson. Brett Sparks added a goal and two assists, and Scott Tsavig had a goal and an assist.

In his first varsity start as goalkeeper, Josh Carlson stopped six shots.

Skyview 2, Evergreen 1 — The Storm clinched a berth in the 4A bi-district playoffs with a win over the Plainsmen at Kiggins Bowl.

Skyview will face Union at 7 p.m. Monday in the next round of the 4A district playoffs. Monday’s winner will face Camas on Wednesday for the district title. The bi-district playoffs are next Saturday.

Woodland 2, Elma 1 — Juan Mosqueda and Anthony Dizon had the goals for the Beavers as they won their first playoff game since 2002.

Woodland advances to face Seton Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Washougal.
