A weekend fire at a Coquille feed store killed between 75 and 100 chickens.

Employees believe that devices used to warm baby chickens may have caused the Saturday night fire, though the cause is still under investigation.

Assistant manager Richard Irvine said the fire damaged everything inside the Milk-E-Way Feed and Trucking store.

The blaze was limited to the store, leaving storage buildings on the property undamaged.

Despite the loss, owner David Sclery and his employees served customers Sunday, selling hay, seed, wire and other undamaged supplies.
