YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Washington State athletic director Bill Moos says he believes the third season of Mike Leach will be when the Cougars start winning.

Speaking at the Associated Press Sports Editors Northwest region conference on Monday, Moos said he thinks the Cougars may be hard-pressed to win six games in 2013 — Leach’s second year –with a difficult schedule that opens with road games at Auburn and USC.

Moos said he was at fault for expectations getting blown out of proportion for Leach’s first season in 2012 when the Cougars went 3-9. Moos said the hype was needed to invigorate a fan base he felt had become apathetic.

Moos said construction of a new football operations center should be completed next spring. The next project is an indoor practice facility, but funding is still needed.
