The Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council on Tuesday hired a Washington search firm to find its next executive director.

Prothman, based in Issaquah, will meet with RTC board members next month as it begins its search process. The agency is looking for a replacement for Executive Director Dean Lookingbill, who has announced he is retiring in March 2014.

The search is expected to cost between $26,150 and $30,000, according to RTC. That includes Prothman’s base fee and expenses.

RTC hopes to have a director selected and hired by December.
