Dumais reaches men’s 3-meter springboard final

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Olympic bronze medalist Troy Dumais earned a spot in the final of the 3-meter springboard competition on Friday.

He scored 468.90 points trailing only China’s He Chao, who had 508.70. The other men qualifying for the 3-meter springboard final were: Rommel Pacheco, Mexico, 467.95; Sascha Klein, Germany, 447.30; Jahir Ocampo Marroquinn, Mexico, 437.15; and Sun Zhiyi, China, 432.15.

Samantha Bromberg surprisingly led her semifinal group of the women’s platform competition with a 341.70 to reach her first senior event final. Last week the 17-year-old competed in her first senior international meet and now she’s in the finals.

The other women who reached the platform final were: Huang Xiaohui, China, 358.70; Jie Lian, China, 330.50; Julila Prokopchuk, Ukraine, 317.70; Maria Kurjo, Germany, 301.75; and Fuka Tatsumi, Japan, 300.45.
