Kenya’s Komon wins 10K race in Central Park

NEW YORK (AP) — Kenya’s Leonard Patrick Komon, the 10-kilometer road world-record holder, won the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in Central Park on Saturday.

Komon also captured this race in 2011. He completed the 6.2-mile course in 27 minutes, 58 seconds. He was followed by Moses Kipsiro of Uganda in 28:02 and Stephen Sambu of Kenya in 28:02.

Meb Keflezighi, the New York City Marathon winner in 2009 and the Olympic marathon silver medalist in 2004, was the top American. He finished eighth in 28:57.
