EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University is planning a $20 million Spartan Stadium renovation to be wrapped up next year.
The Detroit Free Press reports (http://on.freep.com/10leeMH ) the East Lansing school’s board holds a retreat and meeting June 19-21, during which construction is expected to gain final approval.
If that happens, athletic director Mark Hollis says construction is expected to begin and work on the project could wrap up in May 2014. The project is expected to be funded by $14 million in donations and $6 million of MSU athletic department funds.
The plan calls for a two-level building at the stadium’s north end, including locker rooms, an equipment room and a media center. Restrooms and concession stands, as well as a recruiting room for sports, also are planned as part of the project.
