Letter: Keep your children active

The Columbian
Published: May 13, 2013, 5:00pm

As summer draws near, I am writing to advocate on behalf of children.

Too often today, they are pushed to the back burner, spending hours in front of a television and gaming console when they could be outside playing. Why?

Clark County has a number of beautiful places to go to as a family where children can learn to appreciate Mother Nature and enjoy being outdoors. I encourage everyone with kids to make a point to visit Abrams Park in Ridgefield or your local park and spend time together as a family. Years later, your children won’t care that you bought them a new Wii to occupy them over the summer; they’ll be thankful that you took the time to make memories with them.
