Introduction to vermicomposting: 6 to 8 p.m. May 23 at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway. Learn the basics of vermicomposting using redworms to turn kitchen food scraps into nutrient-rich soil for the garden. Participants will receive worms and a worm bin, and learn how to prepare bedding material for their worm bin. $35 per bin. Time, Love and the Land On the Road tour: Vans depart for this master gardener-sponsored tour at 8 a.m. May 23 from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 9319 N.E. Highway 99, and return at 5 p.m. Stops include a formerly “unbuildable” site, a hillside cultivated with irises, a talk with a novice beekeeper on his experiences and a suburban lot that has been transformed into a garden retreat. A stop will be made at Round Table Pizza in Hazel Dell, where participants can buy lunch. $30. Register by May 20.
