CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — South Africa’s anti-doping body says Russia’s Natalia Volgina tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid Metenolone after winning the Two Oceans Marathon in March.

The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport says Volgina faces a two-year ban and being stripped of her title and $27,000 in prize money if she is found guilty of the doping offense by the IAAF. The 36-year-old Volgina can request that her B-sample is tested.

SAIDS chief executive Khalid Galant said in a statement late Thursday that the IAAF and the Russian Athletics Federation had been informed of Volgina’s positive test and those two bodies will preside over her case.

Galant said 24 of the “top finishers” in the Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town underwent doping tests, with Volgina’s the only positive result.
