SANTO ANTONIO DA SERRA, Portugal (AP) — American Peter Uihlein won the Madeira Islands Open after a 4-under 68 in Sunday’s final round for his first career title.

The 23-year-old Uihlein birdied four of his last eight holes for a 15-under total of 273, winning the tournament by two strokes.

Denmark’s Morten Orum Madsen had a chance of victory — or to force a playoff– until he hit a double bogey on the 18th to finish tied for second with Mark Tullo of Chile.

Tullo started the final round as the overnight leader and got off to a good start by making a hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 4, but ended with four bogeys on the round.
