Camas — A decade after the Camas Public Library opened its expanded and remodeled library, patrons have checked out nearly 3 million items while about 2.3 million people have come through its doors. On May 11, the community celebrated not only the 10-year anniversary of its renovation, but the 90 years that library services have been available in Camas. More than 1,020 people visited the library during the celebration, which included performances from local school choirs and special appearances by members of Oregon and Southwest Washington’s Cloud City Garrison, a chapter of the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers Star Wars Imperial costuming club. “Public libraries have a unique place in society — the library is more than a place to get books,” wrote library director David Zavortink in an email.
