Troopers are investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a black Ford F150 pickup that appeared to have been driving aggressively and caused a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 southbound near La Center this morning.

Witnesses say the Ford F150 was traveling south in the center lane when it hit a black BMW, which was driving in the fast lane, Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said. The F150 then veered to the slow lane and crashed into a pickup towing a travel trailer. The pickup/trailer jackknifed, traveling across all lanes of the interstate before leaving the road and rolling onto the left shoulder, Finn said. The crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. and the left lane of the interstate was blocked briefly for response by emergency personnel.

Wanda Rodenburg, 72, of Ripon, Calif., passenger in the pickup hauling the travel trailer, was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for minor injuries. The BMW, which was struck on the rear passenger side, made it safely to the shoulder, Finn said.

The Ford F150 stopped after the collision but then left the scene. A witness took a photo of the vehicle, which reportedly has severe damage to the passenger side. One of the vehicle’s mirrors was left behind.

Finn says if anyone sees the vehicle, they are asked to not approach the driver but instead call 911 or 360-449-7999. Information such as license plate, location and description of the driver is valuable for the investigation.
