Baseball

Who: Skyview vs. Kentridge

What: Class 4A state semifinal

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

Where: Gesa Stadium, Pasco

The skinny: Skyview faces a familiar foe in the Class 4A state semifinal. The Storm face Kentridge at Gesa Stadium on Friday, a team Skyview beat just two weeks ago in the opening round of the Class 4A bi-district tournament. The winner will face the winner of South Kitsap-Kentwood at 4 p.m. Saturday for the state title. Third place is at 10 a.m.

Softball

Who: Skyview vs. Woodinville; Camas vs. Lake Stevens.

What: Class 4A state first round

When: Noon, Friday.

Where: Merkel Sports Complex, Spokane.

The skinny: Camas won the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League. Skyview beat Camas for the district championship. Camas advanced farther in the bi-district tournament, finishing second. Quarterfinal games are at 4 p.m. Friday, semifinals 9 a.m. Saturday and the title game is at 5 p.m.

Who: Prairie vs. Mountlake Terrace

What: Class 3A state first round

When: 9 a.m, Friday.

Where: Regional Athletic Complex, Lacey.

The skinny: The Falcons won the 3A GSHL title and placed third at bi-district. Quarterfinal games are at 4 p.m. Friday, semifinals 9 a.m. Saturday and the title game is at 1:30 p.m.

Who: Woodland vs. Mount Baker.

What: Class 1A state first round

When: Noon, Friday.

Where: Columbia Playfield, Richland.

The skinny: The Beavers dominated the Trico League in their return after four years playing at Class 2A. Then Woodland raced to the district championship last week. Quarterfinal games are at 4 p.m. Friday, semifinals 9 a.m. Saturday and the title game is at 2:30 p.m.

Boys soccer

Who: Union vs. Roosevelt.

What: Class 4A state semifinal.

When: 8 a.m., Friday.

Where: Sparks Stadium, Puyallup.

The skinny: For a second consecutive season the 4A GSHL has a team in the state semifinals. Last year, Skyview went on to win the state crown. This year, Skyview finished third in the league behind Union and champion Camas. But just the Titans remain at state. The winner of this match meets Snohomish or Thomas Jefferson in Saturday’s 4 p.m. final. The third-place game is at noon.

Who: Ridgefield vs. Cheney.

What: Class 2A state semifinal.

When: 8 p.m., Friday.

Where: Sunset Chevrolet Stadium, Sumner.

The skinny: Moving up from Class 1A did not keep the Spudders from returning to the state semifinals. The winner meets Sedro-Woolley or Tyee for the title at 4 p.m. Saturday. The third-place game is at noon.

Track and field

What: Class 4A/3A/2A state meets.

When: 11 a.m., Friday; 9 a.m. Saturday.

Where: Mount Tahoma High School, Tacoma.

The skinny: Camas’ Alexa Efraimson races for a title in the 4A 800 meters on Saturday. Other athletes to watch: Camas’ Grayson Anderson (high jump), Prairie’s James Phillips (long jump, hurdles), Columbia River’s Emily Morgan and Marcus Gaylor (both sprints) and Skyview’s Aubrey Ward-El (shot put, discus) and Colby Gilbert (3,200).

What: Class 1A/2B/1B state meets.

When: 10 a.m., Friday; 9 a.m. Saturday.

Where: Eastern Washington University, Cheney.

Boys and Girls Tennis

What: Class 4A state tournaments.

When: 8 a.m., Friday; 8 a.m. Saturday.

Where: Richland High School and Columbia Basin Racquet Club, Richland.

The skinny: Skyview’s Sammi Hampton is the defending state champion in the girls singles bracket.

What: Class 3A state tournament.

When: 8 a.m., Friday; 8 a.m. Saturday.

Where: Kamiakin High School and Tri-City Court Club, Kennewick.

The skinny: Prairie’s Akari Baba won state in doubles last year and plays singles this year.

What: Class 2A state tournament.

When: 8 a.m., Friday; 8 a.m. Saturday.

Where: Nordstrom Tennis Center, Seattle.

The skinny: Hockinson’s Tiara Atchley and Jayme Towne are the top doubles seed from District 4.

What: Class 1A state tournament.

When: 8 a.m., Friday; 8 a.m. Saturday.

Where: Yakima Tennis Center.

The skinny: King’s Way Christian’s Erin Sprowls and Jasmine Nesbitt play in the girls doubles bracket.
