WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals have called up utility man Jeff Kobernus from Triple-A Syracuse and designated right-hander Yunesky Maya for assignment.

The Nationals made the moves Saturday to put an extra body on the bench while second baseman Danny Espinosa takes a few days off because of a broken right wrist.

Kobernus was hitting .333 with one home run, 20 RBIs and 21 stolen bases in 43 games with Syracuse.

Maya was recently called up from Syracuse and has appeared in one game for the Nationals this season.
