Memorial today in Spokane for Fairchild airmen

SPOKANE — A public memorial for the three Fairchild airmen who died when their refueling plane crashed in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Spokane.

The three were members of the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane and were operating out of a U.S. base in Kyrgyzstan that supports military operations in Afghanistan.

The memorial for Capt. Mark Tyler Voss; Capt. Victoria Pinckney; and Tech. Sgt. Herman “Tre” Mackey III will be held at the INB Performing Arts Center.

Pinckney and Voss were both 2008 graduates of the Air Force Academy.

Pinckney was from Palmdale, Calif. The 27-year-old is survived by her husband; 7-month-old son; parents and two sisters.

Twenty-seven-year-old Voss was from Boerne, Texas. He is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Thirty-year-old Mackey is from Bakersfield, Calif., and is survived by his wife; daughter; mother; three sisters and two brothers.
