OLYMPIA — More than 50 student services employees at The Evergreen State College are on strike after failing to reach an agreement on firing procedures and pay.

The employees that went on strike Tuesday include resident advisers, counselors and other student services personnel. They were joined by dozens of supporters from the state employees union, the Evergreen faculty union and on-campus student organizations.

The strike follows seven days of unsuccessful mediation between college administrators and the 57 employees. Some Evergreen faculty opted to move classes off campus as a result of the strike.
