PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — John Spooney — the Ivy League 100-meter champion — sprinted to touchdown runs of 93 and 94 yards in the first half as Brown blanked Penn, 27-0 on Saturday.

Spooney finished with 232 of Brown’s 291 yards rushing as the Bears (5-2, 2-2 Ivy) handed Penn (4-3, 3-1) its first loss in league play, also breaking Penn’s seven-game win streak in Ivy League play dating to last year.

On the first play of the game, Spooney collided with a pile of players up the middle but bounced off and found daylight, busting 93 yards for a quick 7-0 lead. Spooney opened the second quarter with a 94-yard scoring run, sprinting untouched through a hole in the line.

Alexander Norocea hit field goals of 44 and 45 yards for Brown, which has beaten Penn at Providence in four of their last five meetings, and avenging a last-second loss last year.
