What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

The Vancouver Volcanoes alumni list now includes an NBA

D-League draft pick.

Chehales Tapscott, the 2013 International Basketball League MVP, was picked in the fourth round of Friday’s NBADL draft by the Maine Red Claws of Portland, Maine.

Maine is an affiliate of the Boston Celtics.

Tapscott, a 6-foot-6 forward out of Portland State, is the first IBL player to be drafted by the NBADL. He had 20 double-doubles in a row for the Volcanoes last season, averaging 23.5 points and 14.9 rebounds a game.

Michael Jordan scoffs at the idea of tanking games.

The 14-time All-Star who helped the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships simply doesn’t have it in his makeup to intentionally lose games this season just so his Charlotte Bobcats can get a better draft pick next year.

The Bobcats owner said purposely losing games is just not part of his competitive DNA.

“I don’t believe in that,” Jordan told The Associated Press on Friday. He then laughed heartily and said, “If that was my intention I never would have paid (free agent) Al Jefferson

$13 million a year.”
