I read with interest the Oct. 28 story, “24th season comes to a close.” Several years ago, I attended the Vancouver Farmers Market regularly. I was disturbed, however, about the many dogs at the market and the lack of control that owners had over their dogs.
When I saw a Great Dane lay his head on a table with food on it, I expressed my concern to the market manager. The manager said that there were more people who liked dogs than there were people who objected to dogs and suggested that I find another market. I did that and now attend the Portland Farmers Market. Animals, other than service animals, are not allowed at the Portland market. I think that market has found that most people are appreciative of the no-pets policy. Vancouver’s market may want to rethink its stand on animals.
