A man who was heading to the courthouse for a drug case was arrested after he allegedly tried to bring a methamphetamine pipe through the building’s security.

Steven Todd Campbell, 51, entered Cowlitz County Hall of Justice about 8:40 a.m. today when a deputy spotted Campbell place a glass pipe with brown residue in the tray to be scanned by X-ray, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

The residue in the pipe tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

Campbell was coming to the courthouse for a hearing on a prior possession of methamphetamine charge and obstructing an officer, but the sheriff’s office said he was booked into the county’s jail on an additional charge of suspicion of drug possession.
