Affordable Care Act experiences sought

The Columbian
Published: November 6, 2013, 4:00pm

The Columbian wants to hear your experiences as the rollout of the Affordable Care Act continues.

In Washington, the Affordable Care Act — also called Obamacare and health care reform — expanded the Medicaid program for low-income residents and created a new state-based health exchange, Washington Healthplanfinder, where uninsured residents purchase insurance plans for themselves and their families.

The Columbian wants to hear the stories of Clark County residents who have been affected by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Has your individual insurance plan been canceled? Do federal tax subsidies lower your cost for health insurance? Does the expanded Medicaid program mean you’ll receive free insurance coverage? Have your monthly premiums for health coverage gone up? Can you now find insurance coverage, even though you have pre-existing conditions? Are you opting to pay the annual fine rather than purchase insurance coverage?

If you’re interested in sharing your story, contact Columbian reporter Marissa Harshman at 360-735-4546 or marissa.harshman@columbian.com.

Stories will appear as part of The Columbian’s occasional series, Examining Health Reform.
