Several free public events, including a film screening, music, speakers and panel discussions, are scheduled Nov. 18-21 for International Education Week at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.
• Nov. 18: Oregon Book Award winners Ismet Prcic (for fiction) and Zachary Schomburg (for poetry) will read from their work. Prcic, a theater instructor at Clark, has been recognized for his debut novel, “Shards,” which draws from his childhood in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
• Nov. 19: Members of The Slants, a Chinatown dance-rock band, discuss their role as Asian-American musicians and their dispute with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office over the band’s name. The band will perform in Gaiser Student Center.
• Nov. 19: Erika Nava, a Spanish instructor at Clark, will discuss how online learning is being used to teach foreign languages.
